Mr. David Saÿen, Regional Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Region IX, served as the Keynote Speaker for the 2015 Bay Area Senior Health Policy Forum.

Mr. Saÿen’s region serves over 20 million beneficiaries in Medicare, Medicaid, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and Children’s Health Insurance Program.  He spoke about what initiatives CMS is currently undertaking to address the needs of today’s middle-class seniors, the importance and relevance of Medicare to this population on Medicare’s 50th Anniversary, and what actions we can take locally as a coalition to bring about meaningful change for seniors in the Bay Area.

The Bay Area Senior Health Policy Coalition is part of The SCAN Foundation’s Community of Constituents initiative, building a statewide movement to transform the system of care so that all Californians can age with dignity, choice and independence.

Our Coalition has adopted the Guiding Principles of the California Collaborative for Long-Term Services and Support to establish a stronger, flexible and inclusive LTSS system.  These Guiding Principles are important as we continue our work to strengthen the safety-net for Bay Area seniors.
